Come join me for Worldcon 2024, the World Science Fiction Convention, in Glasgow, Scotland from August 8 – 12! For various reasons, including, um, the Pandemic, I haven’t been to a Worldcon since Dublin in 2019, so I am BEYOND excited to be going. Come see me at the con!!!
I’ll be on six panels, my first time ever being on Programming at Worldcon. I’ll also be moderating four of those panels. See you there!

Never Had It So Good? Life As A Comics Fan Today[Moderator] Even with sales numbers dropping and the distribution channel scattered and shredded, there’s never been a better time to be a comics fan. Marvel and DC are doing some of their best work in years, perhaps under pressure from the strong stories from other publishers as well as the surge of independents. Our panelists consider the state of comic publishing today. Look out for the Comic Book Sommelier session where you can get personalized recommendations! |

Going Up – Space Elevators as Highways to the Stars[Moderator] A space elevator is a free-standing tower that can be used to lift payloads into geosynchronous orbit. The concept has been around for more than 100 years, with one of the best-known SF examples in Clarke’s The Fountains of Paradise. A related concept is the skyhook – an orbiting station with a long tether dangling toward the atmosphere to which objects can be attached. The panel discusses these technologies and speculates on when they might become a reality for Earth, the Moon, or Mars. |

Who’s a Pretty Boy? Pets in SFFFrom K9 to Hedwig, Pikachu to Purza, or from Spot to Sunny, which fictional pets have the affection of this panel and why? Here, we speak of alternative adventurers, sidekicks and faithful friends who have become a memorable part of the story. |
